What would I do if I weren’t afraid?

Okay, okay. It is another Sheryl Sandberg video. This time she is addressing the Barnard College Class of 2011 as the commencement speaker this May. I know it might seem repetitive, but there is a reason why this woman finds herself on this blog.

This commencement speech is not your cookie-cutter, congratulations on your graduation, your diploma will take you far, be sure to thank your parents, kind of send-off. This is a call to action. She tells women to take “ownership of your own success” and to “never let your fear overwhelm your desire.” Whether you’re just starting your MBA, a few years into the workforce, or anyone else (all are welcome, thanks for visiting!): if you need a little Monday morning pick-me-up, this might be just what you need – check it out.

Let me know your thoughts! Here, on Twitter, on Facebook, wherever. What would you┬ádo if you weren’t afraid? Figure it out, and then take Sandberg’s advice: “go do it.”

Why we have too few women leaders…

Watch this great TED talk by Sheryl Sandberg, Facebook COO (/rock star).

I remember reading an article about her in a past issue of Vogue and being totally inspired – hence the “/rockstar” above. The link is HERE if you’re interested.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
