As promised, we are pumping up the Keep it MBAchic content over here, and pastel suiting for spring took center stage this week. (Last week we started Workwear Wednesdays on our IG stories, and we are really excited to share some workwear inspiration each week! The glimpses of great weather, and the fact that we are finally moving into May is giving me major spring vibes, so that’s what we mostly showcased this week.
Some of you have asked for certain themes and looks moving forward (noted!) and some of you reached out regarding guest blogging with your own looks – let’s do this! So excited.
This week’s Workwear Wednesday looks
Here are the fresh, spring-y pastel looks (with a couple of neutrals, so there’s something for everyone) we shared this week, with links to items that are still available (or similar ones out there):
Love this neutral trench look by 9to5chic. The trench is Vince (it’s on sale for 50% off at Nordstrom right now!), the skirt is Tibi (currently 60% off at Nordstrom right now!), and the bag is Fendi (it’s Fendi, so even on sale it’s *Fendi* but find it on sale for 30% off at The Real Real). Such a classic look but really can be recreated at any price point with a great trench from Banana Republic or J.Crew, and a classic [pencil] skirt from Ann Taylor or Theory (investing in these pieces is a good idea if and when you can — AKA right now, when they’re on sale! …good ones like these will last you season after season).
Candy vibes from this fresh pink look by Brooklyn Blonde. The jacket is unfortunately sold out on Shopbop but it is Veronica Beard, as are the pants, which we’ve actually recently linked in our best work pants piece. The heels are Manolo Blahnik if you’re interested but I’d probably pair a simpler heel with this look for the office. A similar coat is linked here, but any neutral coat would look great here. All of these items seem to be on some sale, but I’m not sure how long those sales will last (will share to IG stories right now just to make sure you can jump on it if you like!).
Awesome baby blue moment by Legallee Blonde. I remember her posting about this being under $100 from Target and then sharing on IG Stories that someone stopped her in court to comment on how much they liked her BOSS suit. A well-made suit that won’t break the bank is worth looking at for the spring season. I tagged her in IG stories and she was so nice over DM! Unfortunately the pants are sold out (and the blazer seems to be available in-store in Brooklyn) but hopefully it will restock soon. Pastel suiting seems to be everywhere right now so we’ll try to keep a lookout!
This is such a cool take on corduroy by Sade4U (@s4de_u). I am not usually a fan of corduroy but this really has me interested and I’d certainly give it a shot! This suit is by The Kemist, and though it’s advertised as a winter suit, it could really work for this crisp spring air that’s out there right now in NYC. So fresh, and definitely changes how I see corduroy for a more casual office setting: I’m into it.
Loving this pastel number from I Am Beauticurve! These pastel suits are seriously fantastic, and I’m just scrolling through these shots thinking of which color(s) I want. This stylish set is from Lane Bryant (pants here, blazer here – they’re 40% off at Lane Bryant right now! Heads up, they’re final sale), and is super fresh for the office. I’d pair with some heels or even some mules for work, to pump it up a bit more.
Ok, not a pastel, but still really into this mixed print look from Symphony of Silk. The plaids that vary in scale really come together in this monochromatic look, and I’m inspired to put something similar together using pieces from my closet. I’m having a hard time finding (and differentiating) the pieces tagged on IG, but the brands are Mango, H&M and Zara, so all super-accessible to all budgets. The bag is Chanel, which pulls together any look, right? If no Chanel, pair with a black or grey handbag to keep the focus on those plaids.
This is a great pink set from Express. While the skirt doesn’t seem to be available, a similar one is linked here. Here’s the matching blazer, too, so you’ve got the other half. If you’re set on pink, here’s a great pink blazer (the same one linked before, in pink), and here are a pair of Columnist pants you could pair with it, instead of a skirt. Got all that? Since we can’t find the exact pastel suit to match, wanted to share some options! Pair with a sleek set of pumps and a button-down underneath to add some “weight” to this look and rock it.
While this look might be semingly casual at first, it’s a sleek, sophisticated monochromatic (ok, fine, not a pastel, but still cool) look from Giorgia Tordini. The details really step up these separates, from the bell sleeve on the sweater (similar sweater with a mesh sleeve here) to the slight pleat on the pants (similar here), the structured M2Malletier bag (4 left on sale at Rue La La!) to the kitten mules. These mules are the Manolo Blahnik Maysale in Navy but any mule or kitten heel could work here (similar from Sam Edelman here!).
