Keep it MBAchic: workwear to help you beat the heat
This weather, lately… wow. Workwear to help you beat the heat is not always easy to track down, but if you’re in NYC (or anywhere in the tristate), you’re likely trying to figure out how to dress for these hot, humid days. Sometimes, it’s like walking into a sauna when you leave your house. Let’s not even get into what it feels like heading into the Subway. This week, we’re sharing eight looks that will keep you as easy and breezy as possible, when you’re trying to maintain some semblance of style and professionalism. Here’s to keeping it cool and chic, today and always.
When looking for workwear to help you beat the heat…
I tend to favor dresses and skirts in the summer; they’re easy to wear and even if they’re less tailored, you can throw on a cropped blazer to tighten it back up for the office (and protect yourself from frigid office air). Look for blazers in a lighter, crepey fabric, or even linen, because they will keep you cool when it’s a scorcher out there. I’d stay away from anything synthetic because you’ll likely be sweating outside, and then enduring that awkward cold sweat / fit of sniffles that hit when you’re trying to acclimate to arctic office temps. Take a look and share with us your own go-to workwear to help you beat the heat. Sharing is caring and summer isn’t anywhere close to being over, so let’s help each other out.

Love this combo by @stylepantry. As mentioned on IG, would fasten more buttons up top but a flowy blouse like this is breezy and works perfectly tucked into a wide leg trouser like this.
A blue flowy dress could easily veer into too casual territory, but paired with a cropped blazer, this easy blue midi by Bobeau is great for a hot summer day. Currently under $100 at Nordstrom.

Another Nordstrom find, should you be planning to take advantage of their sale… this sleeveless white tie-waist midi dress by Elizabeth Crosby works depending on your office dress code, but love the tie waist – so easy for a humid, summer day.
Love this classic summer combo by @iambeauticurve! This is not from this season, but love the chic ease of a pleated skirt like this one. The color combo is perfect for sunny weather. I’d pair this with a classic pump for the office but keep the sandals in my bag for when I head out.

As mentioned on IG, this lilac H&M blazer is a mood. This can go with dresses, cropped pants, skirts, you name it. Love the versatility of a bright option like this. It’s also a super popular item – check out this one by Song of Style x Revolve, this one at Express and this one by Michael Kors at Macy’s.
Shirtdresses tend to be a bit short for the office, but this option is work-appropriate and great for the season. I’d pair with a nude pump for the office. This one is by 1901 at Nordstrom and cinches nicely at the waist, keeping you cool in all senses of the word.

A more formal option, but sleeveless and still summer-friendly, this Elie Tahari dress is on sale at Nordstrom (40% off). It’s available in these two colors and classic black, and can carry you from spring to early fall, for at least the next year or two.
This look by Lilly Demello was one of the most popular looks this week – love this simple neutral blazer and dotted skirt, both from Ann Taylor (the skirt seems to have sold out this week, but here’s a similar one in a different color; they have plenty of skirts on a massive sale right now). How would you style this skirt?
