#MBAchicTakeover – Alina at Cornell Johnson during virtual grad week

This week, Alina Everett checked in during virtual grad week to life of a graduating Cornell Johnson MBA. Coming at us live from Sage Hall on the “gorges” Ithaca campus, she shared her journey to Cornell and how she found her way to tech. As schools across the country closed down due to the global pandemic, she and many of her classmates stayed on campus. They finished out the semester while taking advantage of the expansive outdoor space and social distance through it all.

She talked about shifting from consulting to technology, and how to determine if recruiting there is the right move for you. It was great hearing about her extensive leadership opportunities and club experiences on campus. She serves as the President of the High-Tech Club and is an active ally through Out for Business. Alina also serves as a Johnson Leadership Fellow helping first-year students navigate group work and recruiting.

In her Q&A, also shared that post-MBA roles are looking for strategic thinkers with a strong analytical skill set, so it’s important to be open. Think about what makes you happy day-to-day, what sorts of projects and work excite you when starting to recruit. You might find your way to a consulting role or in an industry completely different from what you expected heading in.
