What would I do if I weren’t afraid? Sheryl Sandberg Speaks to Barnard Class of 2011

Okay, okay. It is another Sheryl Sandberg video. This time she is addressing the Barnard College Class of 2011 as the commencement speaker this May. I know it might seem repetitive, but there is a reason why this woman finds herself on MBAchic. Sheryl Sandberg speaks about gender imbalance and usually has thought-provoking research and great anecdotes to keep you engaged.

This commencement speech is not your cookie-cutter, congratulations on your graduation, your diploma will take you far, be sure to thank your parents, kind of send-off. This is a call to action. She tells women to take “ownership of your own success” and to “never let your fear overwhelm your desire.”

Whether you’re just starting your MBA, a few years into the workforce, or anyone else (all are welcome, thanks for visiting!): if you need a little Monday morning pick-me-up, this might be just what you need – check it out.

Let me know your thoughts! Here, on Twitter, on Facebook, wherever. What would you do if you weren’t afraid? Figure it out, and then take the advice Sheryl Sandberg speaks: “go do it.”
