This week, Leticia Tavares takes over from Washington DC to share a day in the life of a hotelier and Harvard MBA grad. Visiting from Atlanta, GA, we followed along as she performed hotel room inspections and discussed her passion for working in hospitality. Serving as Director of Operational Excellence for Marriott International, Leticia brought us to their DC headquarters where she spent the day working and discussing professional development. She took the evening to answer questions and offer valuable insights into her career in hospitality and what life is like at Harvard Business School. It was great to hear about her journey to HBS and how she managed studying and working in a new culture/region. Also appreciated hearing how her passion for learning and operational excellence led her to her current role.

One of the inspiring messages she shared was to never let anything stop you from pursuing your dreams (e.g., money). There’s something to be said for hard work and a fiercely optimistic mindset about all of the possibilities. Some of us have crazy dreams. However don’t let something like cost or the fact that you’re doing something new prevent you from pursuing them. Basically, by doing your homework and seeking support there are a lot of ways to make your dreams a reality.
