Joining from sunny California, first-year MBA candidate at Stanford GSB Sowa Imoisili shared with us a day in the life. (Fun fact: her sister is recent #MBAchicTakeover host Zoddy Imoisili!) As she reflected on her MBA experience thus far and her journey to setting foot on campus, she shared a career path focused on change and innovation and connecting with others from all around the world.
Bringing us around campus and sharing her favorite spots, the incoming class co-president of the MBA Student Association described her application journey (she knew early on that grad school was in her future and took the GMAT as she was graduating from undergrad at Northwestern University) and how her career unfolded before heading to business school. She then talked about how she built her MBA application with the help of MBA prep programs like Management Leadership for Tomorrow (MLT) and Admit.Me Fellows and connecting with other applicants in her shoes. She will be at BCG Digital Ventures this summer and intends to move into early state venture post-graduation and described how Stanford has been the best place for her and her goals.
Sowa shared a wealth of information (some moments that didn’t make the final #MBAchicTakeover included below!) and advice, her philosophy on goal setting and picturing your life in the future (at the “dinner table”), and offered inspiration for anyone considering a big goal like heading to business school, sharing that nothing should feel out of reach.
If you’re looking to get into venture and figuring if and how the MBA might work the route for you, tune in to Sowa’s #MBAchicTakeover and see how her path at GSB is unfolding.
